A native editor for code, markup, and long-form writing
Current line: Sublime Text 4 (Build 4200)
Who keeps this editor on the machine
Sublime Text is a native desktop editor for source, markup and prose. The chrome stays light, the commands stay on the keyboard, and the same build runs on Mac, Windows and Linux.
People who write source
Jump with Goto Anything and Goto Definition, then split tabs when two files need to stay visible. TypeScript, JSX and TSX arrive with Sublime Text 4.
People who tend machines
Open configs and logs in a native binary that does not drag a full IDE onto a slim host. Linux ARM64 packages exist for that case.
People who stay on the keyboard
Multiple carets, the Command Palette and the Python API keep work off the mouse. Themes can follow the system dark setting.
What arrived in this line
Sublime Text 4 carries a set of changes that show up the first hour you use it:
GPU drawing
The chrome can use the GPU on Linux, Mac and Windows. The interface stays smooth toward 8K and typically spends less power than the older path.
Tab multi-select
File tabs now split the layout without extra ritual. Side bar, tab bar, Goto Anything, Goto Definition and completion all point at the same navigation habit.
Project-aware completion
Completion was rebuilt to read symbols already in the project. Each suggestion can show its kind and a path to the definition.
TypeScript, JSX and TSX
Those languages now ship in the default set, so syntax tools apply inside modern JavaScript trees without a hunt for packages.
